What is MajesticCheck out backlink information
What is Majestic
Majestic SEO is a software package focused on providing information for link building, reputation management, competitive link analysis and website traffic analysis. Of the many uses for Majestic SEO, I use the tool on a regular basis for competitive link analysis and for standard link audits. Overall, the tool is very powerful in terms of backlink exploration and building a reputable link building strategy for clients.
Overall, Majestic SEO is easy to use and effective for seeing what kinds of backlinks your site has developed over time. While the amount of data that Majestic SEO produces may be overwhelming to a first-time user, the data is easy to interpret after taking a closer look. Data from Majestic SEO is taken from the software’s internal tool rather than being scraped from Yahoo, Google and Bing.
If you’re looking for a dynamic tool that is hyper focused on link building, try Majestic SEO out. However, if you’re less concerned about links then this might not be the tool for you.
Easy-to-use interface: Just put in your URL and instantly get all of the information tailored to your site.
A summary of all information necessary for a link building strategy is available for your use, including External Backlinks, Referring Domains, Trust Flow and Citation Flow.
Ability to download data and ability to create reports with all necessary information
Flexible pricing plans
Free backlink explorer for websites you already own and limited number of free reports
- Not easy to compare backlinks to competitor sites
- Need a lot of time to analyse data to get the most out of the tool
- Does not have a “pretty” interface-the data leaves a lot to be desired
- Some charts are difficult to read/interpret
The Site Explorer allows users to get a full summary of backlinks and how these were accumulated overtime. The Site Explorer also breaks down the summary of backlinks and puts the backlinks into categories like education links, government links and indexed URLs. As you can see, there is a graph showing citation flow and backlinks accumulated over the last five years.
The Backlink History Checker allows you to compare backlinks for up to five domains using the tool, which seems to be a good idea until actually using the function. While you can still compare data by running the sites separately through the backlink explorer and then downloading the data, this option is less in-depth and does not easily provide the information I personally would be looking for.
The only problem with this comparison tool is that it doesn’t provide downloadable data for further comparison, it only gives two line graphs with non-cumulative information. These are difficult to read and do not give the detailed information needed to properly analyse and compare data.
The Search Explorer tool allows users to search by keywords to see which keywords are used in website titles, URLs and as anchor text. It provides a lot of information if you are interested in competing for particular search terms.
Here’s an example of the data that Majestic SEO produced when I entered the search query “SEO”:
